Back-up & ArchivingOverviewRegular backups are essential for preventing the loss of irreplaceable data. Data loss can arise because of user error (e.g. deleting or overwriting a critical file), hardware loss (e.g. hard disk failure) or even theft of a PC or laptop holding family photos. Backup can be to a range of devices:
Backup should be easy and, ideally, automatic. Backup utilities for the main operating systems (see Howtos below) incorporate scheduling to allow you to set backups to run at night or other convenient times.
